ST. SYNCLETICA - God's Wondrous Saints, a podcast

#syncletica #ancientfaithkids #orthodoxchristian O glorious Saint Syncletica, pray to God for us! (scroll down for words of the hymn!) This week Fr. Alexander introduces us to Saint Syncletica--who was one of the rare women saints who spent time in the desert as an ascetic, and is known for being a Desert Mother. Join us to learn her hymn and get to know this amazing saint together, celebrated every year on January 5th. Fr. Alexander is a priest at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Phoenix, AZ. After finding a lack of Orthodox story podcasts for kids, as father of his two children, Max and Penelope, he is here to share the wealth of knowledge and wisdom we get about our faith just from reading the lives of the saints of our Church. Send along your children’s questions about a saint or our Faith to: fraeliades@holytrinityphx.org or wondrous@ancientfaith.com Fact: St. Syncletica is sometimes called another Job because of the suffering she had with an illness. Fact: She was known as a child to be a very holy young girl. Last fact for today! https://store.ancientfaith.com/ has lots of books about saints! Chapter books, picture books, and giant 101 and 102 Orthodox Saint books! Hymn to St. Syncletica Soaring with love for Him Who holds you in His hands, you were shown forth to be a true God-bearer. O Ignatius, you did finish your course in the West, and pitch your dwelling in the un-waning day of the heavens. O Venerable Father, entreat Christ our God to grant us His great mercy. He came to witness to the Light, a witness to the One. He came to make a way for the Light for us to receive That through Him we all might believe. John, his clothes were made of camel’s hair And he ate locusts & honey without a care. All the people would just laugh and jeer. He’d say repent the kingdom of Heaven is near... Lay da dee day.... Lay da dee day.... When John saw Jesus walking toward him he said, “Behold the Lamb of God, who’s come to take away our sin!” He who’s coming after me is greater than I, Baptizing with the Holy Spirit and fire. Lay da dee day.... When Jesus came to John from Galilee, John said, “Don't you need to baptize me?” But Jesus said “No, John, let it be like this To fulfill all righteousness.” He was baptized in the water, and sure enough, The Spirit of God descended like a dove. And a voice from heaven spoke wondrously: “This is my Son with Whom I am pleased.” Made with love. Powered by donors!
